Sensations and Brain Processes (1959) claimed Occum's razor as the basis for preference of the mind-brain identity theory over mind body dualism.  Dualists claim that there are two kinds of substances in the universe: physical (including the body) and mental, which is nonphysical. In contrast identity theorists claim that everything is physical, including consciousness, and that there is nothing nonphysical.
